--------------------------------------------- PLANET ANOMALY ALERT 2004 #11 (issued 15-Jul, 8:30 UT) --------------------------------------------- Caustic exit in OGLE 2004-BLG-373 now? Dear Colleagues, recent data collected by PLANET with the Danish 1.54m telescope at ESO LaSilla (Chile) on the event OGLE 2004-BLG-373 indicates that a caustic exit may be happening NOW with the source center passing the caustic at HJD=2453201.8474 (15-Jul, 8:20 UT). However, this estimate is strongly biased by a single data point and the expected caustic exit may happen only in a few days time. Frequent photometric measurements during the course of the caustic exit can be used to obtain a measurement of the proper motion between lens and source and allow to measure the brightness profile of the source. A good coverage will reduce uncertainties in the properties of the binary lens system and in particular allow a lens mass measurement if parallax effects can be assessed properly. Event: OGLE 2004-BLG-373 RA (J2000): 17:54:44.95 Dec (J2000): -30:00:50.4 The baseline I magnitude reported by the OGLE team is 18.327.
