--------------------------------------------- PLANET ANOMALY UPDATE 2006 #4-1 (issued 8-Jun, 8:30 UT) --------------------------------------------- MOA 2006-BLG-003: Fold-caustic entry caught Dear Colleagues, PLANET data from the recent night collected with the SAAO 1.0m at Sutherland (South Africa) and the Danish 1.54m at ESO LaSilla (Chile) now show the magnification dropping after the previously observed sudden rise. The indicated curvature matches the generic profile expected for a fold-caustic entry, whose beginning is well-defined by MOA data. It is expected that the event will continue to fall at decreasing absolute slope and rise again. The behaviour over the next days will measure the properties of the caustic and thereby allow to reveal the properties of the lens binary. A light curve plot as well as data are available on our webpages. Event: MOA 2006-BLG-003 RA (J2000): 17:55:22.32 Dec (J2000): -33:04: 8.8 The baseline I magnitude reported by the MOA team is 17.11.
